Working in plumbing technology is a lucrative area today. Although plumbing systems remain essentially the same, new materials and new technologies are beginning to impact on plumbing, and most houses have plumbing systems that need to be installed and repaired by professionals. If you decide to work in plumbing technology, you will need to undertake a period of training. This usually involves both training in the classroom, and training on the job under skilled supervision. You will need to gain certification in plumbing, so that your future employers and clients are aware of your levels of expertise in plumbing technology. You will learn about practical installation and maintenance of plumbing technology, and also about estimation and quotation for systems and repair work, preparing detailed specifications, and supervision of systems installations. Get an apprenticeship or become an assistant to a plumber. Maybe you could ask local plumbers that you want to become a plumber and you want to become their assistant. You might not get paid very well at first but as you get more experience you can try to raise your salary.
Good money.
im starting as an assistant in about 2 days…
gonna do an apprenticeship if its succesful with my new boss.
Hi listen please, I wanna become a plumber but I didn’t take grade 11 mathematics or Algebra 11, And I didn’t take English 12. Could I still become A plumber if I went to a plumbing course program to get plumbing apprenticeships. Do I need to be A grade 12 graduate and do I need english 12, Or trade mathematics & Algebra 11 to get into the course ? Please answer I really want to know. I would really appreciate if you answer me these questions. Thank you in advance
If you want to go the non-union route you can try local plumbing companies that will hire without the prerequisites that you are concerned with although you will be paid less and it will based on experience…but if you learn fast and do good work then raises can come quickly. This route will also give you an opportunity to see how you like the job and also get experience that can be put on your resume.
If you want to go through the unions then you should find where your local union office is and go there to file an application if they are being accepted…or find out what you have to do to get into the apprentice program. Each city will have some differences on the requirements so you should check your own area’s union. Some locals will actually have pre-apprentice classes for people that are merely deficient in some of the math requirements.
