HVAC Super Heat with the Fieldpiece HVAC Guide

mikie2501 noticed that my first video under this title had a technical error so I deleted it. Thanks for catching that. I checked the superheat on my air conditioner at home using the HVAC Guide. It’s a great tool. Please check out FieldpieceProducts’ youtube channel: www.youtube.com

But you can still do that with line temps and pressures and be accurate. :-) Of course as with any service call you always start in the house, checking the filter, t-stat etc. before heading up on the roof.

So you’re A Zonie! Get tired of the heat down here?

I live in Florida right now. I grew up in Phoenix. It gets plenty hot here in Florida, too.

The a/c in my home hasn’t been able to keep up with the setpoint lately, either. It was 102 the other day. The setpoint was 76 but my a/c could only get the house down to 82.

I worked for HVAC / Electrical shop for @ 15 years where I was the only tech for half of the time, at times there was up to 4 techs. I was also the only electrical repair tech. The HVAC side was not union but the electrical side was. I had to clean up messes created by union guys. Maybe not as much as the “scabs”. but the some of the union guys had a bad attitude towards me. I imagine that they were threatened because some of us scabs knew more than they did. Unions can be parasites on busine

Ouch! Straight kick to the privates! Not all Union companies buy everything. I love my Union, but they don’t back the worker as much as they used to…. Local 9

  8. hot2wheeler says:

Situations vary… We really need both. Without Unions, workplaces take advantage of workers because it becomes a race to the bottom. Who is willing to work for the least. Non-Union companies give competition and makes Unions competative.
Consider both only as good as the personnel in charge.

Very good point hot2whweeler, I topped out @ $16 an hour after 15 years as working as a scab. I broke out on my own 5.5 years ago, now I work twice as much and make half as much.

Wow, what do you do to keep your hoses clean and in the same bright color as new?

  11. DrZarkloff says:

I just replace my hoses regularly.

I’m in HVACR school and your videos are very helpful. Thank you doc.

  13. juniorg515 says:

Toward the end of the video you said you would increase the speed of the fan to 60 hertz. How would you do that?

  14. DrZarkloff says:

Actually, there is only one way to do that. I’d have to put the variable speed drive in by-pass. I optioned to just leave well enough alone.

    Thanks for watching.

hey i would like to learn how to replace 410 a system if you can help me

  17. DrZarkloff says:

You’re right. I’ve decided to just leave it at 50 hertz.

  18. DrZarkloff says:

Thanks for watching. You’d do much better to learn all of that in school. That would take a lot of videos.

Dr.Z , thanks for making all these videos. they are very helpful. I am Hvac student who have yet any experience on the field. Is it necessary to hook up the gague to both high and low side? From a book, I learned that to check the super heat one can just take the temperature reading from the suction line (6 to 12″ from compressor) minus the temperature (converted from the pressure reading at evaporator).
